Dayton
Waters
Tireless, passionate, intense, sincere, committed to excellence. These are the
things that describe the Dayton Waters Show. Breathless, touched, rocked,
inspired, happy, awed and sometimes tearful. These are the things that describe
the Dayton Waters Experience.
Waters plays a non-stop show, sometimes going four to five
hours a night, his only break to mend a guitar string. His marathon shows have
become legend. Once he starts, the audience stays. He rarely repeats a song
(unless a fan requests it) and he covers a range of music from contemporary to
classic rock to blues to country. He manages to cover the bass lines, leads,
percussion and vocals all by himself. Well, him and his twelve-string. Waters
stomps his feet, jumps about the stage, wanders into the audience playing his
guitar and even hops onto a table from time to time while never missing a chord.
A former paratrooper and Ranger in the US Army, Waters brings
physical and emotional intensity and honesty to the stage. He began playing
music in his pre-teens and cites Eric Clapton and Pete Townsend, among others,
as his influences. He sings with an emotion that draws the audience to him and
he carries them with him through the song. Covering music ranging from Creed to
Clapton; Muddy Waters to Pink Floyd and lots more in between, Waters lives up to
the challenge of the timeless tunes he plays.
Waters is also an accomplished songwriter, with one
self-released album, to his credit. This set of originals is loaded with
music and lyrics that touch some part of every person's being. From the
heartfelt opening of "Bleed" to "Running With The Wind", a
song about living life on your own terms, Waters lyrics are sincere and
poignant.
If you've never seen Dayton Waters live, you are missing a treat. It is a
certainty you'll stay all evening and leave wishing you could hear more.
