John Talley

John Talley is a talented singer-songwriter hailing from Mt. Ida, Arkansas. Most recently John fronted local favorites Blue Blazes. Since Blue Blazes went their separate ways Talley has picked back up as a solo artist.

An accomplished songwriter, Talley plays as many originals as he does cover tunes. His soulful, gravelly voice adds a texture to the music that makes it his own. His down to earth wit keeps audiences laughing and singing along, enjoying themselves throughout the evening. Talley’s original tune, "Dump Truck", a song about a first date gone terribly wrong, is always a crowd favorite.

Talley decided to play music when he was about six years old. "After seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show I just knew that was what I wanted to do" he says. His influences are Bob Dylan and John Lennon and it shows in his music. He has recorded a pair of original solo albums over the years and most recently has a pair of live "front porch" recordings.

Talley’s humor seems to always come through in his music and his showmanship. During his travels one of Talley’s gigs included Riverfest in Little Rock some years back. It was during Riverfest that he met local Arkansas and ESPN radio and television personality Craig O’Neal. O’Neal asked for Talley to pen a birthday song for him. "I did" says Talley, "I don’t know if he ever got it but I have it recorded somewhere."

John Talley is a true Arkansas original, quick to make his audience feel at home in any setting.
